Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf (16 oz / 450g) French or Italian bread
  • 1/4 cup (57g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves (9g) garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp (4g) fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine the softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, parsley, and salt in a medium bowl. Stir vigorously until the mixture is a smooth, velvety paste with no lumps of butter remaining.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the bread loaf in half lengthwise.
  3. Using a spatula, spread the garlic mixture evenly across the cut sides, ensuring the butter reaches the very edges for a consistent golden-brown finish.
  4. Place the bread cut-side up on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the edges turn a deep mahogany color and the center bubbles. Remove when the bread smells nutty and the crust feels firm.
