Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup white onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Cut the cabbage into quarters, remove the tough core, and slice into thin ribbons.
  2. Thinly slice the onion into half-moons and mince the garlic finely.
  3. Heat the olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. Once the butter foams, add the sliced onions and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until translucent and golden-brown.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30–60 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Increase heat slightly and add the shredded cabbage, stirring to coat in the garlic butter.
  6. Let the cabbage sit undisturbed for 2–3 minutes to sear and develop caramelized edges.
  7. Season with salt and cracked black pepper, then stir in the apple cider vinegar just before removing from heat.
