I'm Silas, and I used to be terrified of baking. For years, I thought making dessert required a pastry degree, piping bags, and perfectly level cakes. It wasn't until I discovered the beauty of rustic baking—where uneven edges are celebrated and flavor always trumps perfection—that I truly fell in love with the oven. Now, I'm on a mission to help other home cooks conquer their fear of flour and sugar.

My Culinary Philosophy

• Taste Over Aesthetics: I would rather eat a messy, incredibly delicious slice of pie than a perfectly decorated cake that tastes like cardboard. My recipes prioritize deep, developed flavors.

My Background & Expertise

I'm entirely self-taught. My background in structural engineering gave me a deep appreciation for how ingredients interact, but my trial-and-error approach in my own kitchen is what taught me how to actually bake. Over the last decade, I've filled dozens of notebooks with ratios, mistakes, and eventual successes.
